Beaches of Mani
It is indeed a wonder how such a small geographical space boasts this stunning indented coastline with beaches that are literally competing to win the visitor's heart.
A perfect mix of turquoise and dark blue water within the same bay. Limeni beach is located at a picturesque bay in Laconian Mani. It is a perfect choice for rock diving and it is rather shallow with thin sand.
Stoupa has three beaches. The first one is the big central beach, right in front of the village. It is sandy, approximately 400 metres long and equipped with umbrellas, sunbeds, water bicycles, canoes etc.
Kalogria is one of the most beautiful beaches in Greece. It is a spacious, large sandy beach, equipped with umbrellas and sunbeds right by the water, a beach volley court to the back, enormous trees for natural shade, 2 beach bars and 3-4 taverns. The sand continues inside the shallow and crystal clear waters.
Crystal clear waters with thick sand, which is not annoyingly sticky as in other beaches. The water is clean, but the beach is not exceptionally beautiful.
A beach with pebbles and crystal clear waters, with a variety of cafes and taverns next to the beach.
A secluded beach in lower Mani that looks a lot like that of Limeni. It is a small bay of exceptional beauty for those who prefer to take a dip in private. It has pebbles and crystal clear waters, while the stone built towers surrounding the bay create an idyllic atmosphere for a swim.
Considered by many as the best sandy beach in Mani. A hidden gem extending among the naked hills, on the way to Tainaron from Vatheia, at the south-western tip of the Mani peninsula, it is quite popular with Greek and foreign tourists. The free camping tents and trailers are there to stay, especially during the high season.
Vathi & Mavrovouni Beaches
One of the largest beaches in Gytheio, covering an area of over 5 kilometres, and one of the most beautiful beaches of Laconian Mani. Many people visit Gytheio to see the enormous beach of Mavrovouni and Vathi. It is a pebbled beach comprising a rather large area, but its waters are not the best in Mani. It is however worth a visit, mainly for those who love organised beaches. A must if you are up for water sports and water games (rings, sofa rides etc.).
Valtaki or Navagio (Shipwreck) Beach
Having inspired many photographers from all over the world, the beach of Navagio is the jewel of the Prefecture of Laconia. However, the best images are to be seen here. Although Navagio, like Trinisa beach, does not belong to the municipality of Eastern Mani, distance-wise they can both be considered as local beaches, offering a refreshing break to Mani’s residents.
Porto Kagio Beach
Yet another picturesque natural harbour with pebbles and crystal clear waters. The beach is semi-organised, while right above there are many taverns where you can taste the local cuisine. Accommodation near the beach: try the traditional guesthouse of Porto Kale, fifteen metres away from the sea, offering nine comfortable, fully equipped rooms. (60€ for a double room, including breakfast).
Known as “Nisaki” by the locals, Kotronas boasts turquoise waters reflecting the surrounding olive and carob trees, white pebbles and is one of the most popular beaches of Laconian Mani. It is located in a beautiful pebbled bay between Kotronas and the village of Flomochori.
